Betty Barber

Betty Barber age 88 of Crestview and formerly of Chipley passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Superior Residence in Niceville, FL.  She was born in Ashford, AL to Will and Ethel Roney on December 12, 1928.  Betty lived in Chipley with her family where she taught school at Kate Smith Elementary and her husband Walt farmed.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley and after retiring her and Walt moved to Crestview in 2004 and they joined First Baptist Church in Crestview.  She and Walt loved to camp, loved to travel, and Betty loved babies and little children.  Most of all she loved her family and her grandchildren.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walt Barber and a son Doug Barber.

          Survivors include her sons: Tim Barber and wife Susan of Georgetown, TX and Jeff Barber and his wife Patty of Crestview; Brothers: Will Roney and his wife Nina; Sammy Roney and his wife Charlene; sister Nell Centers and her husband Lowell.  Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Timothy Barber and wife Amanda, Collins Barber, Hannah Demarra and husband Dylan and Morgan Barber, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

          The celebration of Betty’s life will be on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Fran Picker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Chipley, FL.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice.
