Billy Arnold New

Billy Arnold New, age 84, of Escambia Farms, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home. He was born in Highpoint, North Carolina on June 30, 1931 to Terrell Bishop New and Fleta Elizabeth Calicutt. Billy served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force where is was a missile technician and also served as military police. Billy opened his own repair shop after his retirement. He loved to repair things, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most of all he loved his grandchildren. Billy was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Mattie Kennedy; parents, Terrell and Fleta New; brothers, Earl and George New; sisters, Mildred, Mary Mabel, and Francis; son, David New. He is survived by his sons, Derek New, Donald New, Dennis New, and David Kennedy; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 31, 2015, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior to service.
