Burla McCurley

Burla McCurley, age 81 of Crestview, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.  She was born in Laurel Hill, FL on September 28, 1936, to Thadest and Lela Adams, and has been a lifelong resident of the area.  Burla was a member of Airport Road Church of Christ.  She loved to garden vegetables and flowers, loved to cook and loved fishing.  Burla enjoyed sewing and knitting, but most of all she loved her family and God.  She was preceded in death by her husband John R. McCurley and son Davey Maurice McCurley.

          Burla is survived by 5 generation, her children: Johnny P. McCurley and his wife Julie, Julia McCurley Boles and her husband Jimmy, and Tommy McCurley and his wife Brenda.  Also surviving is her daughter in law Barbara McCurley, 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchildren.

          A time of visitation with the family will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.  The celebration of Burla’s life will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral.  Burial will follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
