Carolyne Kaye Allard Clay

Kaye was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Milton and Alvina Allard on September 3, 1936 and passed to be with the Lord in Pensacola, Florida on October 23, 2016 at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She met her husband James (Jim) Clay on a blind date on March 8, 1954 while she was studying to be a nurse at Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. Both knew right away that they were meant for each other and were married on May 29, 1954 in the chapel of Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. After their honeymoon in Florida she returned to Wichita to complete her nursing studies and Jim returned to his USAF assignment at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. She completed her nursing studies and became a registered nurse in 1956. After graduating she joined her husband who was studying for a MS in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann, Arbor, Michigan. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St Josephs College in Maim. She worked as a staff nurse in many different hospitals and was head nurse on the Med/Surg floor in the new hospital in FT Walton Beach, FL. She also worked in Hospice and did research for the CDC on Chronic fatigue Syndrom. She is Survived by her husband, Jim, four sons, John and wife Anna, Michael and wife Moly, David and wife Gayla, and Stephen, eight grand children Tonia, Shannon, Austin, Sydney, Collin, Crystal, Tiffany, and Cameron, and five great grand children, Hudson, Clayton, Emalyn, Tucker  and Ty . She and Jim are members of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Crestview, Florida where they were active in promoting the mission activities of the church both at home and international. Also, they were actively involved with Campers on Mission in the campground and fair and festival ministries of that organization. She and Jim were able to share the Gospel on nine different foreign mission trips. Donations in Lieu of flowers should be made to the World Mission Offering of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Crestview.  The celebration of Kaye’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The burial will be on Monday, October 31, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in Pensacola at Barrancas National Cemetery.  Guestbook and condolences can be left at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com; Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
