Cary Gates

Cary Gates, age 71 went to be with Jesus on March 18, 2018.  He was born in DeFuniak Springs, FL and raised in Crestview, FL, where he lived until his death.  Cary was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a retired Civil Service employee from Eglin, AFB. Cary was married to the love of his life, Priscilla, for 52 years.  He has 5 children and 9 grandchildren who he felt were his greatest accomplishments and his life’s legacy. He was an avid golfer and one could often find him on the course.  Cary enjoyed the SEC and Florida Gator Sports, Go Gators!  He enjoyed the outdoors, taking care of his yard, hunting and fishing.  

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Bell, his father, Enoch Cary Gates, his step-father, Albert Bell and his sister, Jo Ann Locke.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Gates, daughter, Caren Cadenhead (Scott) children: Erin and Casey, daughter Stacy Eastwood (Eddie) children: Hollee and Noah, son Johnathan Gates (Jodi) children: Enoch and Ragan, son Michael Gates (Heather) children: Morgan, Nash and Harper, son Joseph Gates (Stacey), and sister, Martha Cosson (Randall).

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home.  Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home starting at 1PM.

The family asks for all who attend the service to come in casual attire (no suits and ties), Cary preferred to keep things casual.  Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Baker.

The family would like to remind everyone that as Cary liked to say, “Make the rest of your day, the best of your day!”
