Concy "C.J." Joshua Thomley

Concy Joshua (C.J.) Thomley passed away at home on January 10, 2018. He was born on November 13, 1929, in Houston County, Alabama, to Fletcher and Rachel Thomley. The youngest of eight children, C.J. graduated from Wicksburg High School, where he met his wife, Nadine Peters. They married on September 10, 1949.C.J. joined the Navy in 1952 and served for four years. He spent most of his naval career stationed in Japan. After he left the Navy, he worked as a machinist for ten years, and then trained to be an optician. He worked in this career field until he retired from Family Vision Center in Crestview in 1997.C.J. enjoyed spending his retired years fishing and working in his garden. Time spent with his family was never time wasted in his eyes. He happily watched his family expand in his later years as his grandchildren married and had children of their own. He was a man of great faith in the Lord and lived what he believed. He served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon of the church for 62 years. He instilled his Christian values in his children and grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and daughter Teresa Elene. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nadine; children Rhonda (Larry) North, Rickey Thomley, and Remona (Timothy) Willis; grandchildren Jason (Sarah) North, Wesley North, Kasey (Aaron) Cole, Josh (Acacia) Thomley, Rachel (Chris) Gainey, and Derek (Sarah) Willis; great-grandchildren Gabe Duc, Christopher North, and Scarlett Cole. Services for C.J. will be held Monday, January 15, 2018, at 1018 Valley Road Baptist Church in Crestview. Visitation will be at 10:00am with services following at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Hwy 84 in Wicksburg, AL, at 3:00pm.C.J.’s family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for their kindness and care during his last weeks.
