Doris (Baker) Mitchell

Doris Mitchell, 95, of Baker, FL, passed away December 30, 2016 at Silvercrest Manor in Crestview, FL. Doris was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama on June 30, 1921. She married Wilson Mitchell on January 24, 1942, and they made Baker their home. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Mitchell and her parents, Evie Lee and Aaron Baker. Doris was a homemaker and nothing brought her more joy than taking care of her family. She was a devout Christian who attended Hester Holiness Church for many years. Doris is survived by her two sons, Earl (Mary) Mitchell and Mallory (Linda) Mitchell; sisters, Marnell Vanderford and Ouida (Willie) Broxson; grandchildren, Eric (Angie) Mitchell and Monica (David) LaRoque; great grandchildren, Ethan, Erin and Matthew Mitchell and Alyssa, Daleah, and Jacob LaRoque; nieces, Angela (Ray) Sanders and Linda (Bobby) Wiley, and nephews, Gil Fortner and Greg (Gloria) Fortner. Our thanks and appreciation go to the nursing staff at Silvercrest who lovingly provided excellent care for Doris during her years with them. Visitation will be from 2-3 PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery, Baker. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
