Welcome to the memorial page for

Dot Seagle

January 26, 1925 ~ September 26, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Dorothy “Dot” White Seagle of Crestview, FL left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2017. Born an “army brat” in Ft. Benning, GA and growing up in Ashland, AL, Dot lived her life in service to others.  While serving her country during WWII as a payroll clerk at Anniston Ordinance Depot, AL. Dot became a war bride when she met and married Thomas “Buddy” Seagle in 1943, just before he shipped off overseas.  The life-long love lasted 74 years as Dot gave birth to their 5 children in 4 different states, including Alaska and Hawaii, while moving in support of Tom’s military career. She ran the home and raised the children, sometimes by herself, while Tom was away training or fighting overseas in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Dot never faltered, never complained, and kept a great sense of humor.  She taught vacation bible school, and Acteens, while tending to the needs of her family. Family was always the number one priority in her life. Always.

Raised during the great depression and persevering through many dangers, toils and snares, Dot epitomized the “Greatest Generation” by constantly sacrificing her interest for the benefit of others.  Until her death, at age 92, she served as chairman of the Bereavement Committee for the First Baptist Church, where she was a member for 45 years.  The matriarch of a large family, Dot was the heart and soul of the Seagle family, and center of support for an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Vergie White, sister Peggy King and son Van.  Dot is survived by her husband of 74 years Tom and their children David (O’Teria), Keith (Teresa), Kathy Barrow, Todd, daughter-in-law Rita (Van), and brother, Don White. She lived to enjoy 9 grandchildren Kenny, Lisa, Becky, Tommy, Scott, Austin, Evan, Parker, Faith and 11 great grandchildren.

Services will be coordinated by Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home and held at the First Baptist Church of Crestview on Saturday September 30th.  A viewing will be held 1-2 p.m., with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Followed by internment in the Live Oak Cemetery, Veteran’s Section.
