Emma “Jean” Pilkilton, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Thursday evening, July 30, 2015.
Jean, as she was known by many, was born May 22, 1931, to the late Clanton and Carrie Lou Johnson. She married Wilfred “Tommy” Pilkilton on September 3, 1950, and they had two children, Jennifer and David. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church in Crestview, FL
She enjoyed working in her yard, painting, travelling to the mountains and playing “Skip-Bo” with the gang every Friday night.
Jean worked for the telephone company for many, many years as an operator, and then became a supervisor. She retired upon becoming a Grandma, and her grandchildren became the joy of her life. Jean will be remembered by all for her beautiful smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer V. Crowder, her sister, Louise Evans and brother, Doyle Johnson.
She is survived by her son, David Pilkilton, Sr., and wife, Cindy; four grandchildren, Melissa DuBose and husband Grey, David Pilkilton, Jr. and wife, Kim, Andy Pilkilton and wife, Kimberly and Caitlin Crowder; four great grandchildren, Easton, Olivia, MaKayla, and Greyson; sisters, Clara McCormick and husband Mac, Betty Batson and husband, Leon; a brother, Lewis Johnson and wife, Geri; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their tender, loving care, especially her nurse, Danielle and her aide, Tonya. Also we would like to thank her volunteer coordinator, Ann for all her love and support.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on starting at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Liveoak Memorial Park Cemetery.
