Francis D. Langston

Francis D. Langston, age 80, of Baker, passed away Friday evening, May 8, 2015 in Crestview.  He was born May 27, 1934 in Bessemer, AL, to the late Frank and Bertha (Roy) Langston.  Francis served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, then attended Auburn University, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked in U.S. Civil Service from 1962 until 1991.

Francis enjoyed woodworking and has filled his family’s homes with his projects.  He coached little league baseball with his three boys and even went on to play softball with them.  He enjoyed camping and playing outdoors with all of his children and grandchildren.  Francis loved to travel, enjoying many family vacations all over the U.S.

Francis was a member of Shockley Springs Baptist Church in Baker, where he had served as deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dixie (Lee) Langston; three sons and their wives, Kerry and Vickie, Darryl and Rene, and Glen and Dawn; and eight loving grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview, with Rev. Don Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends starting at 10 AM.  Burial will follow at Liveoak Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Florida Baptist Children’s Home, P.O.
