James Clayton Mason

James “Clayton” Mason, age 69 of Crestview passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Laurel Hill, FL on July 11, 1945 to Mae Ruth Mason-Dean and Jasper Mason.  Clayton has been a lifelong resident of the Crestview area.  He loved riding his four wheeler, loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed tinkering on motors and singing.  Most of all Clayton loved his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children Carol Lamb.

            Survivors include his daughters: Amy and Deann Lamb of Crestview and Kelly, Lisa, and Angie of Texas; sisters: Joyce Moran and husband Jerry and Susan Cuthriell and husband Wendell.  Also surviving are several grandchildren and one that was close to his heart Antoine “Ajae” Davis.  2 nieces Karen Rogers and Angela Cox and 3 nephews Clay Tidwell, Jamie and Kelvin Moran, along with several great nieces and nephews.

            The celebration of Clayton’s life will be on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Svea Cemetery.  A time of visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m.
