Joseph L. Gibson

Joseph L. Gibson, age 63, of Laurel Hill, entered into the Perfect Love of his Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2015. He was born March 9, 1952, in Pensacola, Florida, to his father, the late Ronald Gibson and his mother, the late Eunice Chessher Gibson. Joe served in the Army National Guard, and following in his father’s footsteps became a boat captain and fisherman. He was Captain of the “Pompano” out of Destin for many years until retiring to his home in Laurel Hill. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Gibson and baby brother, Sterling. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Martha; son, Ronald Joseph Gibson, his wife Becky and their son, Joel Adam Gibson; daughter, April Renee Gibson Tucker, and her husband, Todd; brothers, Albert Gibson, Paul Ray Gibson and Capt. John Gibson; sisters, Paulette Gibson and Charlotte Ramsey; and numerous other extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home, With Rev. Mike McVay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning, starting at 10 AM. Burial will be in Almarante Cemetery in Laurel Hill.
