Mabel Edenfield

Ms. Mabel Edenfield, age 90 of Crestview, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at North Okaloosa Medical Center with her loving family by her side.  She was born on June 7, 1924, to Clint and Addie Lee Strickland.  Mabel has been a lifelong resident of North Okaloosa County.  After graduating high school Mabel went to work at Eglin Field as a clerk.  Any job that she ever had, she was accepted and loved by her co-workers and made them her friends.  After marrying her husband she went to work in Pensacola at Chemstrand until 1979.  She was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Crestview.  Mabel loved being outdoors, working in her garden and tending to her yard.  She loved her family and enjoyed traveling with Gayle, John, and Chris on their many trips.  Besides Gayle her greatest love was her grandson Chris.  Mabel was preceded in death by her parents Clint and Addie Lee Strickland, sisters: Carol Jean Boling, Mavis Bryant, Valrae Strickland, and Gayle’s father B.F. Edenfield.

            She is survived by her daughter Gayle Duncan, son in law John Duncan, grandson Chris, all of Chipley, Fl, and sister Opal Rodgers of Florala, AL, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and church friends.

            The celebration of Mabel’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Reverend Mike McVay and Reverend Paul Mixon officiating.  Burial will follow in the Almarante Cemetery in Laurel Hill.  A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m.
