Marie (Tew) Barrow

Marie Barrow, age 89, of the Oak Grove Community near Blackman, Florida, Okaloosa County, went to be with the Lord June 17, 2016, at her home. She was born in Svea, FL, on October 28, 1926, and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. She was married to James “Creston” Barrow for 70 years. He preceded her in death; he died May 10, 2016. They were awesome parents. Marie was a member of the Blackman Church of Christ. She was a farmer’s wife and stay at home Mom. Marie loved being with her children. Her hobbies included taking pictures of her family, flowers and working in her flower beds. She was preceded in death by her parents Allen Atlas Tew and Nola Veloxie Wilson Tew. Father-in-Law James (Jim) Columbus Barrow and Mother-in-Law Janie “Ruth” Stabler Barrow. Brothers and sisters Eiler McIntosh, Bessie (Rouse) Williams, Gordon Tew, Rosa Lee (Wade) Pickens, Rex (Lucille) Tew and Lucille (Woodrow) Wise. Nephews Drewie (Betty) McIntosh, Alfred (Jewel) McIntosh, Euell (Betty) McIntosh and Marvie D. Williams. Nieces Milo Williams and Doris Hart. Survivors include her four children Patsy (Joe) McDonald of Baker, FL, Sharon (Jerry) Hillmeyer of San Antonio, TX, Linette (Jack) Jerkins of Baker, FL, Doyle (Cheryl) Barrow of Baker, FL; three grandchildren Toni (Rob) LaFear, Adrian (Shonda) Luke and Nathan (Courtney) Barrow, all of Crestview; two-step grandchildren Jessica (Jamie) Barrow of Brewton, AL, and Joseph Jerkins of Laurel Hill; six great-grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Cole and Justin LaFear, Aiden and Brynlee Luke all of Crestview; one step-great-grandchild Jassy Barrow of Brewton, AL; one brother-in-law Ray Barrow and friend Norah Handley of Homestead, FL; one sister-in-law Gracie Mae Tew of Baker; nephews C. A. Williams of Niceville, Max Hart of Crestview, Levan (Roxanne) Tew of Crestview, Allen (Susie) Tew of Baker, Sam (Judy) Tew of Baker, Chester (Rebecca) Tew of Anthony, FL, Darryl Tew of Baker, Ted (Judy) Pickens of Easley, SC, Pete (Ginny) Tew of Crestview, Clayton (Linda) Tew of Scottsdale, AZ, Norman (Patricia) Wise of Samson, AL, Terry (Havlin) Wise of Opelika, AL, Randy Barrow of Homestead, FL, and Jimmy (Judy-Lynn) Barrow of Fort Worth, TX; nieces Karen Tew Moye of Baker, Hazel Wise (Wedsel) Dunn of Hacoda, AL, and Jo Ellen (Eddie) Caines of St. Augustine, FL.; many cousins; and last, but not least, their Corgi, Baby. The family will receive friends at a viewing at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, June 20, 2016. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, June 21 from 2:00-3:00 pm, with Christopher Ragle officiating. Pallbearers are Tyler LaFear, Dylan LaFear, Sam Tew, Darryl Tew, Allen Tew and Joseph Jerkins. Entombment will follow at the Cotton Cemetery in Escambia Farms. A deep thanks and appreciation is given to Covenant Hospice. After the graveside service family will receive friends at the home of Jack and Linette Jerkins on Creston Barrow Road.
