Mary Curlee Barrow, age 91, of Crestview, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Crestview Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Barrow was born in Shelby, Alabama and raised in Columbiana, Alabama. She graduated from Alabama State College for Women (University of Montevallo). She met her husband, George W. Barrow Jr., on a blind date in Florala, Alabama. They were married on September 2, 1945, and enjoyed many years together at Dogwood Acres. Mrs. Barrow was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Crestview, FL. She was also a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Barrow loved to travel and spend time with her family - living life to the fullest. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, bright eyes, and spirited personality. Mrs. Barrow was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George W. Barrow, Jr., her parents, Luther H. Curlee and Kathreen Boaz Curlee. She is survived by her children, Jan and Sumner Rutledge, Susan and Darrell Smith, Patti and Kerry Weatherford, and Stephen and Janet Barrow; grandchildren, Julie and Richard Brethauer, Billy Rutledge, Jamie and Yili Rutledge, Emily and Ron Vander Kooy, Lee and Debra Smith, David and Jacque Smith, Kay and Kelley Grenon, Matt and Sarah Weatherford, Courtney and Joe Lai, Chelsea and Josh Murphy; great grandchildren, Daniel and Summer Brethauer, Ben Brethauer, Melissa and Nick Evancho, Acadia Rutledge, Elizabeth Vander Kooy, Cody and Haley Smith, Caroline Smith, Henry Grenon, Lohrelei, Pierce and Ray Weatherford, Alexis and Alana Lai, and Olivia Murphy; great great grandchildren, Christy and Erich Brethauer. The celebration of Mrs. Barrow’s life will be on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with an hour of visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, Crestview, FL building fund in memory of Mary Barrow. The family would like to thank Dr. Thigpen, the staff at Crestview Rehabilitation Center and Covenant Hospice for their gentle loving care.
