Mary Kathleen McMichael

July 14, 1932 ~ March 7, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Kathy McMichael 84, passed away at Twin Cities Hospital on March 7, 2017. Kathleen was born on July 14, 1932 in Gainesville, Florida., to J. D. Olen and Eurma Courtney. She grew up in Gainesville and attended the local schools.  After graduation, she joined the work force with the Helzel Company. In 1954, she married Dallas McMichael and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he was stationed in the Navy. Then, in 1956, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Dallas worked for Beech Aircraft company. In mid1957 they moved back to Florida and Kathy worked for the Alachua County TB Association. She attended the Santa Fe Jr. College and graduated with honors with an Associate’s Degree. She then worked for the University of Florida until 1979 when Dallas was transferred back to Jacksonville, Florida. She worked for the North Florida College, retiring from there in 1988. Next, she was employed as the president’s secretary in a new bank. During all of her years she worked with the various women’s groups of the First Christian Churches and was an elder. In 1989 she and her husband purchased a home east of Laurel Hill, Florida and made their final retirement there. During her retired years, she traveled to several foreign countries through the ministry. She also presented hat shows throughout North West Florida and south Alabama featuring a large collection of women’s hats.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dallas; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

She is now free of the terrible back pain that had given her over six years of misery.

Memorial Service will be held at the first Christian Church Disciples of Christ on March 28, 2017 at 11:00am.
