Maxie Lee Arnett, 85, of Crestview, FL, passed away at Shoal Creek Rehabilitation Center in Crestview on Monday, July 27, 2015.
Maxie graduated from Escambia Farms School and is also an alumna of Troy University where she received her Master’s degree in Education. She began her teaching career at Northwood Elementary as a fifth grade teacher and later taught Physical Education at Richbourg Middle School. She retired from the Okaloosa County School System in 1985.
She is survived by her daughter, Randella Hartzog and husband Alvin of Crestview; three grandchildren who called her Mimi, Ashley Smith and husband Brian of Deatsville, AL, Lee Arnett of Gulf Shores, AL, and Taylor Arnett of Jackson, AL; and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Smith of Deatsville, AL.
Maxie is preceded in death by her parents, Burlie and Alma Lee; husband, Randall J. Arnett; son, Paul J. Arnett; and infant son Randall Dale Arnett.
Maxie was an avid reader and as a teacher loved to read to her students. She believed that everyone should learn something new every day! She instilled a love of learning to her own children and grandchildren and touched the lives of many students during her teaching career.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Hill Church of Christ in Escambia Farms, conducted by Ministers Pat Brinn and Mark Dillman. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the church cemetery after services.
