Melba Louise Connolly

Melba Louise Connolly, 90 years old, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2017.  She was born in Arizona, Louisiana in 1927, daughter of Morris & Melba Robinson.  Melba was the oldest of five children.  Mother of three; Glen Perdue, James Perdue and Joan Castleberry.  Known as Mamma Melba to her son’s wives Cathy and Karen as well as her children’s half-brother Gene Perdue.  Grandmother to 13, Great Grandmother to 27, Great Great Grandmother to 5!

Melba was a crossword hobbyist and an avid reader.  She loved nature and had the green thumb to prove it.  She could spend hours watching a humming bird busy at work or a squirrel chasing back and forth from ground to tree.  And she most loved the warm, white sand and the smell of the Emerald Coast Beaches. 

In her most recent years, while sipping her much loved cup of coffee, much of her time was spent keeping an eye on the government through daily news reports – there may have been little she could do to stop the wrongs she saw unfolding before her but that wasn’t going to stop her from reporting her outrage to those within earshot.

2Cor 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”.  A child of The King, Melba stood firm on the promises of God.  

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 10:00-11:00am at First Baptist Church Crestview with the funeral service starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Almarante Cemetery.
