Steve Moczary, age 79, of Crestview, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in Crestview. Steve was born in Hungary on Oct. 3, 1938, to the late Jozsef and Ibelya (Pollak) Mocsari. He served in the U.S. Army from July 18, 1958 until his retirement, February 24, 1980. Steve was a motorcycle enthusiast and decorated marksman. He was a member of 504th Military Police Battalion, Vietnam Advisors Group, and D.A.V. Crestview. His many achievements include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Service Medal, German Marksmanship for Rangers, Expert Quality Badge-Pistol, and Korean Defense Service Medal. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Aladan (Ali) Zanto. He is survived by his loving wife, Liesel Moczary; a son, Stephen Moczary; a daughter, Ulrike Smith; grandchildren, Selyna Moczary, Eric Graham, Elijah Smith; step-grandchildren, Gracie Miller and John-John Miller; and daughter-in-law, Karrye Moczary. A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Brian Dale officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Crestview Chapter 57, in Steve’s memory.
