Thelma Lee (Thompson) Steele

Thelma Lee Steele, age 94, longtime resident of North Okaloosa County, passed away September 2, 2016, in Crestview. She was born October 7, 1921, to the late Acey and Minnie Lee Thompson. Thelma was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Steele, daughter and son in law, Robert and Mary Elizabeth Hartley, son, Calvin E. Steele, granddaughters, Tracie Marie Wagoner and Juanita Louise Hartley. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Lynda Barrow; adopted son, Cary Steele, Jr.; sister, Minnie Mae Gartdner; sisters in law, Ileane and (Vernon) Turner, Oleane Steele Harrelson and Eunice Barco; grandchildren, Joseph Barrow, Chris Steele, David and Maurene Hartley, Jamie Steele, Lee and Rosie Hartley; great grandchildren; Curtis Steele and Carrin Escalle, Jonathan, Despina, Christina, Michele, Misha Hartley, Michael, Edward, and Stacie Steele, Summer and Brittany Wildman, Michael Beck, Robert Beck; great great grandchildren, Oliver Beck, Adriana Beck, Nathaniel Steele, Annabell Steele, Brianna Beck and Naomi Beck; and nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bud Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday starting at 11 AM. Burial will be in Cotton Cemetery.
