Titus Prescott 1920 - 2015 Crestview, Florida

Titus Prescott, 94, passed away May 21, 2015, surrounded by his daughters at his home in Crestview.  He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.  We celebrate his homegoing.

Mr. Prescott was a proud, retired 30-year veteran, SMSgt of Eglin AFB, FWB, FL.   SMSgt Titus Prescott is among the last of the Greatest Generation, those who served in WWII.  “Keep ‘em flying” is an old Air Force motto he lived by.  It means :  “Always do your duty for God and Country.”

He was born in Troy, Pike County,  Alabama, the grandson of a Baptist preacher who gave him the Biblical name Titus.  The son of a farmer, Charlie Prescott, he quickly decided that farming was not the life for him and joined the Air Force at the age of 17, forging his parent’s signature.  He met the love of his life, Virginia Conant, while in the Air Force in Wichita Falls, TX.  He lovingly helped her raise her children as his own as well as fathering one himself.

Titus was not one to sit around.  He loved to be active, hunting dove and quail, mullet “snatchin”, working in his backyard, cheering on his beloved Gators, attending church service regularly at First Baptist for over 40 years.

He is preceded 7 years in death by his wife of over 60 years, Virginia Prescott, originally from Wichita Falls, Texas and his parents, Charlie and Eunice Prescott of Baker, Florida,  sisters Evelyn Pace and Milo Williams, brother Billy Joe Prescott,  brothers-in-law Richard Bonta and Dallas Pace.  He is survived by his sisters Mary Charles Bonta and Yvonne Steele both  of Crestview, FL and Etoyle Manush of Birmingham, AL,  brothers-in-law Ronnie Steele and C.A. Williams both of Crestview, FL;  2 daughters,  Sharon Spears (Brian) Doan of Jefferson City, MO and Jo Lynn Prescott of Westland,MI;  3 grandchildren, John (Charlotte) Spears of Jefferson City, MO , Jennifer (Steve) Thomas of Plymouth MI and Scott (Mio) Spears of Tokyo Japan ;  5 great-grandchildren Nicholas and Kurt Spears of Jefferson City MO and Yori, Mitch and Louli Spears of Tokyo Japan,  many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.   Special thanks to his faithful care givers of over 40 years, Dr. Abdul Mir, Betty Jordan and niece, Patty Bonta, and the “girls in the office”.
