VAN DAY

September 11, 1935 ~ February 13, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Van Day, age 81, of Crestview passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Carrington Manor in Crestview.  He was born on September 11, 1935, to Charlie and Pearl Day of Baker.  Van graduated from Baker High School in 1953.  He entered the United States Marine Corp and served his country for 2 years.  Van was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association.  He loved to travel and loved his family, but most of all he loved his grandchildren and loved to watch them play baseball.  Van was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers.

            Survivors include his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Day; sons: Kenny Day and wife Peggy, and Keith Day and wife Angie; daughter Kim Scheid and husband Garry; sister Rachel Outlaw.  Also surviving are his precious grandchildren: Clint Rushing and wife Trish; Chase Jaramillo and wife Brooke; Chris Day and wife Emily, Phillip Day and wife Renee, Joshua Day and wife Alycia and Mercedes Jones and husband T.J.

6 great grandchildren also survive: River, Riley, Reid, Brooklyn, Kaden and Baby Kennedy on the way.

            A memorial service for Van will be on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral with visitation to begin at 1:00 p.m.

The family would like to request that donations be made in Van’s memory to Emerald Coast Hospice and Carrington Manor in Crestview.
