Barbara Jean Thames

Barbara Jean Thames, age 68, of Baker passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. She was born on July 12, 1949 in Graceville, Florida to Jack and Frances Pippin. Barbara was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and worked for the phone company for many years before her retirement.  Barbara enjoyed sewing, loved to travel, but most of all loved her grandbabies and her family.  She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Pippin.

Barbara is survived by her husband of fifty years, Donnie Thames; daughters, Donna Jean Steele, and Rhonda Renee Thames; Brother Dennis Pippin; one grandchild, Shelley Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Kolten, Kylie, Dakoda, and Dalten Thompson; and many numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A time of visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6-8:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. The celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sweat officiating.  Burial will follow at Cotton Cemetery.
