Betty Jean Beard

Betty Jean Beard, age 84, former resident of Crestview, went to be with her Lord on January 22, 2018. At the time of her promotion to Glory she was resident of Orlando. She was born April 16, 1933 to the late Sam Richards and Haifa Najjar Richards. Betty was presently a member of Grand Ridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking Lebanese food, spending time with family and friends, reading, arts and crafts and any activity that would allow her to meet people and make a new friend.  Betty loved football and was a devoted FSU Football fan. She had a career with the Civil Service, primarily at Eglin Air Force Base, that spanned over 30 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 58 years, Leron (Red) Duvall Beard, a son, Billy Ron Beard, and brothers, Robert (Doc) and Duane Richards.  

She is survived by a son, Robert Duane Beard.

Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday, January 26, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Crestview. Visitation with the family will begin at the church at 10 AM. Committal services and burial will follow in Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org), in Betty's memory.
