Betty Franklin

Betty Franklin age 82 of Destin passed away on Thursday December 12, 2019 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL.  She was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on November 6, 1937 to Johnnie and Helen Boone.  Betty grew up in Missouri and moved to the Fort Walton, Destin area in 1975.  She spent the rest of her life raising her family and working here on the Emerald Coast.  Betty was a bartender and worked at the High Tide, The Elks Lodge and the American Legion of Destin.  She loved talking with her friends and gambling and socializing.  Most of all she loved her grandkids and great grandkids.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Franklin, daughter Paula Seaton and son Craig Simmons.

            Survivors include her children: Richard Simmons and wife Pat, John Franklin, , Charmae Hillman and husband Phillip, Lisa Funk, Jennifer Arrington and husband Jason, and Julie Jowers and husband Kary; Sister Carolyn Saale and the apple of her eyes her grandchildren: Zack, Anthony, Kelly, Tucker, Lily, Emma, Luke, Tyler, Travis, Taylor and her 2 great grandchildren: Gracie and Braxton.

            A graveside service will be held on Thursday January 2, 2020 at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  The family will gather after the service at the American Legion in Destin for food and fellowship at 5:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Betty’s memory to the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion of Destin.
