Coy Thomason, age 90 of Crestview, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019. He was born in Defuniak Springs, FL on November 7, 1928. Coy graduated from Florida State University and started working for the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office under Sheriff Ray Wilson. Coy worked for many years as Administrator for Okaloosa County Airports before his retirement. He was an avid golfer, loved FSU football, loved to garden and was very active in his church at First Baptist of Crestview. Most of all Coy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and supporting them in their activities. Coy was preceded in death by his wife Edith Thomason, his parents and 4 siblings.
Survivors include his daughter Holly Hughes and her husband Kenny and son Dennis Thomason and his wife Debbie. Grandchildren: J.C. Peacher, Chandler Peacher, J.L. Thomason and Seth Thomason. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
The celebration of Coy’s life will be on Thursday August 15th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 3:00 p.m.
