David Lamar Bracewell, Sr.

David Lamar Bracewell, Sr., age 68, of Crestview passed away on Monday, November 20th, 2017. He was born in Andalusia, AL on September 24, 1949. David was a member of Cross Creek Country Fellowship. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, he received the Army Commendation Medal near Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. Sgt. Bracewell also received the award for meritorious service while assigned as a radio tele-type operator with the Headquarters Company of the 35th Engineer Group. He is preceded in death by his parents S.L. “Cicero” Bracewell and Doshie Dell Bracewell, his wife Linda Ann Bracewell and grandson, Joshua Ethan Bracewell. Survivors include his son: David L. Bracewell, Jr. and wife April, Daughters: Devan Lynn Bishop (Jimmy) and Dee Dee Hill (Phil), Brothers: Malcolm Bracewell (Cindy) and Randy Bracewell (Melissa) Grandchildren: Jacob Bracewell, Micah Bracewell, Treydean Bracewell, Sophia Bracewell, Olivia Bracewell, Kaitlyn Bishop, Karley Bishop, Dakota Bishop, Shelby Hill, Savanna Hill and Tyler Hill, and numerous other family members and friends. Back in the day David was in the Jaycees, and became a very large part of Ropin' the Truth. He was always involved in anything the grandkids were doing. He loved an adventure: hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, shooting. He was all about NASCAR, but even more than that, he loved Gospel singings, ministering to others, and telling people about Jesus. He was Paw-Paw to MANY and could and would work circles around everyone. In Lieu of flowers the family ask donations to be sent to Ropin’ the Truth, 8210 Jordan Rd., Baker, Fl 32531 A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6-8pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be held at Cross Creek Country Fellowship, Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 2:00pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
