Donna Ann Nielsen

Donna Ann Nielsen, age 91, of Crestview, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017, at 5:40 in the afternoon, at the Safe and Secure, assisted living home in Crestview, Fla. Her son Kenneth Nielsen, and his wife Julie were at her side at the time of her death. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on June 1, 1926, to Robert and Mary Ann Laundra. Donna was a 1948 graduate of Michigan State University and was selected as one of the TOP 100 Women of the 1948 graduating class. Donna studied journalism and held the position of editor at several small community news papers in her home state of Michigan before retiring to Florida in 1986 She volunteered for many years with the American Association for the Blind transporting the blind to medical appointments and shopping. She enjoyed going to mass, saying her rosary, football, basketball, daisies, and BBQ Ribs. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Robert Nielsen and son Jonathan Nielsen, her first born, who died at birth. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, William Nielsen of Seattle, Washington, Kenneth Nielsen of Crestview, Fla, Michael Nielsen of Nashville, Tenn, and Mary Ann Clouser of Dover, PA She has 5 grandchildren, Nathaniel Nielsen of Seattle, Washington, Meagan Nielsen of Seattle Washington, Kennie Clouser of Dover PA, Kelly Ann Clouser of Dover, PA, and Holly Nielsen of Crestview. She also has two great grandsons, Tyson Odom, of Crestview, and Brailey Nielsen of Crestview. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to the "Legion of Mary", at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Crestview, Florida. Donna will be laid to rest, next to her loving husband Bob, of 58-years, at St. Andrews Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan.
