Doris Harrison, age 90 of Crestview passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was born on January 16, 1928, in Crookston, Minnesota, to Ole and Hilma Aker. Doris moved to Crestview from Tampa in 1958. She worked as a nurse for Dr. George Barrow, and also worked at the Okaloosa Memorial Hospital and the Florala Hospital. Later on she retired from the Okaloosa County Health Department. Doris was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church. She loved crossword puzzles, reading and Welsh Corgis. Loved her church and was a part of a music study club. Doris also took piano lessons and she loved to garden. Most of all she loved her family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and her husband Richard Harrison.
Survivors include her son Kevin Harrison and wife Debbie of Ocala, FL; daughters: Mary Harrison of Providence, RI, Julie Harrison and husband Scott Blaylock of Pace, FL, and Jeannie Harrison of Crestview, FL. Doris also has 4 step grandchildren: Jon & Jared Thomas, Lorna Tinkel, and Michael Blaylock, along with 7 great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Whitehurst-Powell Chapel from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. The celebration of Doris’ life will be on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
