HAWKINS, EUGENE LAMAR (HAWK, GENE, PAPA GENE)
On Monday, February 4, 2019, Eugene Hawkins, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord.  Gene was born January 24, 1931 in Quincy, FL.  Gene will be forever remembered by his son, Hal of Virginia Beach, VA and daughter Pam and husband David Milne of Shalimar, FL and his precious grandchildren, Nicole, Rebecca, Bradly and Ella Grace, great grandchildren, Colton, Addsion, Forest & Bailey.  Also, by his sister Mollie Oswald, nieces and extended family and dear friends.  Gene is preceded in death by his parents Anne Scott and Fred Briggs.  He married Faye Nell Hendricks February 20, 1954 and they were married until her death June 6, 1989.  He then married Judith Moss March April 29, 1990 they were married until her death March 27, 2006. 

Gene served 4 years in the US Navy and 22 years in the US Air Force, retiring in 1978 from Randolph AFB.  He worked for Fairchild Aviation until 2002.

He was a longtime resident of Live Oak, TX and spent the last 2 years in Shalimar, FL.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Universal City until 1989 and then was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church through 2014.

He loved fishing, traveling, history and reading.  

A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery February 14, 2019 at 1:15pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s/Dementia Association or a charity of your choice.
