Frank Smith, Sr.

 Frank Smith, age 69 of Crestview passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Augusta, GA on August 22, 1948, to Willie and Jessie Mae Smith. Frank served in the Vietnam War, and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service defending our country. His hobbies included fishing and photography. He was a lover of cars, especially muscle cars, and even raced from time to time. Frank had a huge heart. He loved helping people and volunteering at his church. He also had a knack for fixing and building things. Most of all, Frank loved his family and grandkids. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Martin and Alvin Smith. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marie Smith; daughter Desiree Green and sons: Frank Smith II and Sean Smith. Also surviving are his grandkids: Brandon Green, Justin Green and Arianie Esperon; Brothers: Willie Smith and his wife Becky, Sidney Smith and his wife Sherry. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Leroy Bennett and his wife Pamela, Harold Bennett and his wife Eloise, James Bennett and his wife Phyllis, and Lillian Holmes and her husband David, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The celebration of Frank’s life will be held at The House of Restoration in Crestview FL, on December 28, 2017, at 6 p.m. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 5 p.m. Frank’s final resting place will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola FL, on December 29, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
