Gerda Marianne Bell

Gerda Marianne Bell, born July 21, 1936 in Munich Germany, passed away August 22, 2017, in Crestview, FL, after a long battle with heart disease and breast cancer.

Gerda moved to this country to make a better life for herself, and instead made everyone’s life better just by being in this world.  She loved classical music and art, but most of all she loved her family.  She worked for AAFES all her adult life and retired after over 30 years of service.

Gerda was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Oswald Thiem and two brothers, Werner Thiem, and Norbert Thiem; sister, Marianne Thiem.

She is survived by her loving husband, SSG George W. Bell, Jr.; her daughter, Patricia Bell (children, Ellyon, Elliott and Elizabeth Bell); step sons, George and Michael Bell; great grandchildren Dario, Londyn, Elliana, Elliott, and Ell'isa; and siblings, Vera Becher (husband Frank and daughter, Bettina), Gunter Thiem (wife, Lotte, and children, Angelika, Mathias, Michael and Frank.)

A Celebration of Gerda’s Life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in Gerda’s memory.
