Gladys Fleming

Gladys Celety Miller Fleming, 101 years of age, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11:25am. She was born in Camp Walton (Fort Walton) September 5, 1916, and was a life long resident of Okaloosa County.

She was surrounded by her family and friends when she passed to be with her Heavenly Father, it was very peaceful.

Gladys was the mother of one son, Earl and his wife Ruth Thompson of Baker, Florida; daughter, Linda Thompson Belcher and Marty Mitchell of Brent, Alabama; three grandchildren, Jeff and wife Amy Thompson of Roanoke, Virginia, Melody Thompson of Baker, Florida, and Vickie Caine of Crestview, Florida; 8 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by father, Jack M. Miller; mother, Mary Barnes Miller; husband, Clarence Leon Fleming; and many brothers, sisters, family and friends.

Wishing to thank Regency Hospice members for their special care and love they showed our mother, especially Pennie and Annie, two wonderful caregivers for always being there to show love and care.

Syretha Stokes and Glenda Lanasse, thank you for being a part of our family.

Mrs. Fleming worked raising her two children as a hospital employee, a factory employee, a successful business owner for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, being with family and friends, an avid fishing lady, later traveling all 50 states and she was filled with happy memories.

A time of visitation will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 1:00-2:00PM with the funeral service starting at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
