James Silcox
Jim Silcox age 85 of Baker passed away on Wednesday September 4h, 2019 at North Okaloosa Medical Center. He was born on April 28th, 1934 in Hastings, FL to Wesley and Leonice Silcox. Jim spent his early days helping his dad train running quarter horses until he moved on to the large Camp’s Ranch on the Paynes Prairie in Gainesville. He loved horses, loved the outdoors and loved Cur dogs. “Once a cowboy, always a cowboy” Jim worked for Sears a few years and then went to work for Crom Corp for 46 years before his retirement in 1997. Jim was dedicated to his community and worked countless hours at the Baker Arena facility and was a board member for over 20 years with BARA. He has many many friends; certain ones were referred to as “Bubba”. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jay Robertson.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Jill Silcox, daughter Shelly Robertson, brother Franklin Silcox and 5 grandchildren: Aubrey, Hannah, Dylan, Jaycee, and Gage.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the Baker Arena on November 16th from 2:00-5:00pm. Everyone will have an opportunity to speak if they wish and hopefully tell any funny story about Jim or just a happening. Also, everyone please wear jeans and boots or other comfortable clothes.
