Joe Purvis age 68 of Crestview passed away on Friday December 7, 2018 at Sacred Heart surrounded by his family. He was born in Eminence, KY on July 29, 1950. Joe served his country in the United States Marines for 8 years. He worked for many years as a corrections officer. Joe was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, he loved going to the beach and watching sun sets. Joe loved to “people watch” and sitting in the rocking chair at Cracker Barrel. In his early years he loved to hunt and fish and go camping. Most of all he loved his family, his wife, his kids and especially his grandkids. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Ben Purvis, Sr. and Doris Beller, his step-dad Andrew Beller, a great granddaughter Payton Harper and brother-in-law Don Rogers. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Denise Purvis, son David Harper, daughters Kerrie Purvis Howard and husband Ken, who he considered his son, Jennifer Purvis Main and Denise George and her husband Phillip. Brother Ben Purvis and wife Pauline; sisters Betty Maddox and husband Gene, and Jeanene Rogers. 12 grandchildren: Joseph, Megan, Lindsey, Kailey, Garrett, Dalton, Cody, Alexandria, Kristen, Cory, Preston, and Peyton. 3 great granddaughters: Brooklyn, Brynlee and Paige, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The celebration of Joe’s life will be on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m.
