Joyce Gower

Joyce Frances Gower, age 59, of Crestview passed away Saturday evening, October 21, 2017, in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Joyce was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 24, 1958, to Albert and Violet Tokarski.

Joyce was a compassionate person who cared deeply for everyone she knew whether they were family or friend.  She was a great listener who wouldn’t hesitate to question when she was in doubt.  She was a natural caregiver, always putting other’s needs before hers.  She loved bingo, couponing, scrapbooking and spending time with friends and family.  Joyce will always be remembered for her loving heart and contagious smile, and will be missed deeply by many.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Tokarski and her son, Kurtis Gower, Jr.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Alfred Kurtis Gower, whom she married on July 11, 1980; her daughter, Amy Marie Gower; sisters, Evie Lee Jordan, and Janet Carole Pennington (her husband, David); granddaughter, Selena Aryana Davis; and niece and nephew, Carlie and David Pennington.

There will be a Prayer Service for Joyce at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm at the funeral home on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Breast Cancer Foundation in Joyce’s memory.
