Katy Elizabeth (Owen) Dugan

Katy Elizabeth Dugan age 70 of Crestview passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at North Okaloosa Medical Center.  She was born at Eglin Air Force Base on October 31, 1948 to Walter “Buck” & Ellen Lorene King Owen.  Katy graduated from Crestview High School in 1966.  She was very involved in her church, Airport Road Church of Christ.  Katy loved to read and loved to sew, especially buying the fabric. She would bake cakes for many family occasions and for many people in the community.  Most of all Katy loved her family and was very involved in their lives.  Whether it was sports or scouts, Katy could be found cheering her kids on, being the team mother, or working the concession stand.  She was there for her family, no matter the occasion.  Katy was preceded in death by her father Buck Owen in 1990.

    Survivors include her husband of 53 years Thomas R. Dugan; her children: Ruth Dugan, Rebecca Sweet and husband Brad, and Daniel Dugan; her mother Lorene Owen; 3 brothers: Larry Owen and wife Vicki of Oak Grove, OK, Charles Ray Owen and wife Polly of Belleville, NE, and Cliff Owen and wife Susan of Crestview; sisters: Viola Owens, Wanda Neel and husband Charlie and Teresa White and husband Clay all of Crestview; 3 grandchildren: Elizabeth Badger Murphy and husband Aron, Thomas James (TJ) Sweet both of Crestview and Shelby Martin of Pensacola and twin great grandchildren Kinzley and Noah Badger also survive.

    A time of visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.  A graveside service will take place Friday morning October 11, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at the Owen Family Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Church of Christ Prison Ministry, PO Box 776, Lake Butler, FL 32054 or Off the Chain Ministry, PO Box 558, Middleburg, FL 32050
