It is with great sadness that the children of Larry E. Byrd Sr. announce his sudden passing on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the age of 69.
Daddy was born in Port St. Joe Florida on September 7, 1949 to Gene and Vennie Mae Byrd. He resided in Port St. Joe and worked as an Electronics Technician for St. Joe Paper Mill until it closed in 1999. He moved to Crestview in 2002 where he worked as a DOD Contractor for Endyne, at Eglin Air Force Base. He loved music; always picking up one of his guitars and playing us a tune, he was known for his quick wit, his “Byrd’s Backyard Brew,” and his sweet, loving spirit.
Daddy was preceded in death by our Mother and absolute love of his life, Myra Sue, his parents, Gene and Vennie Mae, and his granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Howell. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Theresa (Benji) Lenfest, Larry Byrd, Jr., and Mary Ann (Chris) Ramsey, his three very special granddaughters, Taylor (Kendall) Welsh, Hannah Howell, and Bayleigh Ramsey, two sisters, Brenda (Charles) Carroll, and Angie House, one brother, Gerald (Sarah) Byrd, several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and close friends.
Please join us for visitation and celebrating his life Saturday, October 13, 2018 between 2:00 and 4:00 PM CST at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home, 436 West James Lee Boulevard, Crestview, Florida 32536. Interment will be in the family plot at Holy Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe on a date to be determined later.
