Luther Wesley Beard

Luther Wesley Beard, age 85, of Crestview, passed away Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018. He was born July 13, 1932, in Tennessee to the late Robert and Lela Ann Beard. Luther served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korea War, and was honorably discharged as Sergeant after seven years of faithful service. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Crestview Baptist Church. Luther enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and especially spending time the family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Beard, a brother, Thomas Beard and sister, Helen Gandee. Luther is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Nancy Beard, of Holt, FL, his step-son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carolyn Wilkinson; four grandchildren, Michael Wilkinson, Jr., Rebekah McKenzie, Lindsay Hoard and John Wilkinson; and several great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. A Memorial Service for Luther will start at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Alan Kilgore officiating.
