Madge Elmira Parker Pickens, born October 3, 1921, passed away February 8, 2019 in Crestview, Florida. Please remember, with a smile, the feisty little lady still driving the old Caprice at 97 while she tried to feed every stray cat or dog she encountered. Madge graduated from FSU, taught school in the original Destin School then FWB Elementary. She retired after ten years and lived in Destin and Mack Bayou for over 50 years before returning home to the quietness of Holt. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Walker Parker and Jessie Parker Jones; her husband of 75 years, Michael H. Pickens; her only sibling, Pete (Martha) Parker; and her loving nephew, Ronnie Cawthon.
Survivors are her only niece, Elaine Parker Cawthon and her greats Tammi (David) Dingess, Kimberly (Chris) Fountain and their children Michael and Kara Dingess, Delayney and Roxy Parker Fountain, and her cousin JT Garrett.
Per her request, there will be a private family service in Holt. Our family wants to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at NOMC and the wonderful, loving care she received by the entire staff at Crestview Rehabilitation Center.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
