Marian Elaine Cushing Mercer

Marian Elaine Cushing Mercer, age 76, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crestview. Elaine retired with Okaloosa School System with 30 years in 1998, where she worked as a bus driver for a few years and then moved to Longwood Elementary as Bookkeeper until she retired. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her dog, Buffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marian Cushing, and grandmother Viola Cushing.

Elaine left behind a devoted husband, Joe Newton Mercer of 57 years. Also left behind 2 sons, Randal Mercer and wife Gina, of Fort Walton Beach, and Stephen Mercer and wife Mynra, of Hope Miles, North Carolina; one sister, Carolyn Lancaster and brother-in-law Frank Lancaster, of Crestview; two grandchildren, Kathryn Mercer, of North Carolina, and Cortney Mercer, Fort Walton Beach; and two great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Crestview beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Memorial Services beginning at 2:00 PM with Reverend Fran Picker and Reverend Alan Kilgore. In lieu, of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Crestview.
