Mary Drake McLendon

Mary McLendon age 89 of Greensboro, AL passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018, in Crestview, FL. She was born in Greensboro, AL on May 23, 1929, to Bryant and Annie Drake. Mary was a member of the Greensboro Bible Methodist Church. She was very active in her community. Mary volunteered with the American Legion and the VA hospital in Tuscaloosa. She was a charter member of the Southern Academy in Greensboro, AL and was the Alabama State President of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ralph McLendon, 2 daughters: Anne Horne and Karen Bailey, 2 brothers: Harry and Bryant, and a grandson John Moore Survivors include her daughters: Rhonda Lindsay husband Keith, Mary Jane Wright husband Willie and Glenda Walsh. Sisters: Janie Saggus husband Guy, Marie Bearden, Doris Godsey, and Laura Hancock. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Mary will be missed by family and friends and the folks in our community. The celebration of Mary’s life will be on Saturday September 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greensboro Bible Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
