Maurice Wachtel

Maurice Wachtel age 85 of Baker passed away on Wednesday December 31, 2019 at Westwood Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Long Island, NY on February 28, 1934 to Louis and Sophie Wachtel. Maurice served his country in the United States Air Force as a pilot. After leaving the military Maurice went to work for Pan-American Airlines as pilot for 30 years. He loved to go camping and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Peggy. Survivors include his children: Norma Wachtel and Charles Wachtel; also surviving were his pride and joy, his 3 grandchildren: Sara, Brian, Christi, and 5 great grandchildren. Numerous extended family also survive. At Maurice’s request a private family will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
