Michael Ray Braswell (1963-2018)
Michael Ray Braswell, 54, suddenly passed away on June 4, 2018 in Powhatan, Virginia. He was born July 24, 1963 to Elbert and Brenda Braswell in Portsmouth, Virginia.
He married his wife Amanda of 30 years on April 30, 1988.
Mike enjoyed life. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring from Eglin, AFB in 2004 as a Master Sergeant. He served in Desert Storm, and is a Bronze Star recipient along with many other accolades he earned during his service. Mike retired from the Air Force and became a State Trooper for the Florida Highway Patrol in 2005. Mike loved to serve and be for the people, as he did so during his career for 25 years.
Mike loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed anything outdoors.
He leaves behind his wife Amanda and his only son Tim, whom both reside in Crestview, FL. Other survivors include his parents Elbert and Brenda, 2 sisters Debi and Karen, his Aunt Peggy, as well nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on June 19th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Graveside services will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:00am on June 20th with Reverend Dale Walters Officiating.
