Myrtle Lee McMillan was born March 27, 1930 in Marshville, NC to Sylvan and Katie Torrence. She was the fifth of eleven children.
She went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Wesley McMillan
and her loving devoted husband Oscar McMillan, Jr. of fifty two years.
Oscar and Myrtle raised their ten children in which they provided guidance, love but most of all they taught them about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Myrtle was a military wife, worked as a substitue teacher at John M. Tutt Elementary School in Augusta, Ga. and was a homemaker. She came to Jesus Christ at an early age.
Mother Mac was a proud member of First Church of God in Christ and was a part of the Women's Dept. She was affectionately known as "Mother Mac" by First Church members.
She never turned down an opportunity to participate in a program when asked, saying "I just can't let them down." She spent time with her special friend, "Mother" June Gaines.
She served in the choir for a total of thirty six years at Antioch Baptist Church, Elim Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church all in Augusta, Ga. and Mount Zion A.M.E. Church of Crestview, Fla.
She also served as the Youth Director at Mount Zion A.M.E
She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters: Ruth Outerbridge of North Carolina, Thalia Thornton of Oceanport, New Jersey and Mildred(Reginald) Thornton of Jackson, New Jersey. Three daughters: Evangelist Cathryn Anet Williams and Jackie Marie McMillan both of Crestview, Fla., Myrtle Elaine Williams(Curtis), of Dacula, Ga. Six sons: Oscar McMillan III of Warner Robbins, Georgia, James E. McMillan of Doraville, Georgia, Sylvan R(Jewelene) McMillan of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Bishop Anthony B.(Kelly) McMillan of Pensacola, Fla., Harold(Delores) McMillan of Norcross, Georgia and Fred D. (Nancy) McMillan of Sacramento, CA., twenty one grandchildren and twenty great grands, a host of neices, nephews and friends. Devoted friends: Doris McQueen and Louise Heath both of Augusta, Ga.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at First Church of God in Christ in Crestview, with Pastor Edward Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview.
