James Simpson
Retired Lt. Col. Jim Simpson, age 85 of Crestview passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1932, to Basil and Laura Simpson in Lansing, MI. Jim served his country in the United States Army for 30 years before retiring. He then worked Civil Service for 12 years. Jim moved to Crestview in 1993 from New Jersey. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Crestview where he served as a Deacon. Jim loved his family and loved his country.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia Simpson; children: Thomas Simpson and wife Roxanne, Tammy Simpson, Lisa Baughman and husband Jonathan, Melissa Morales and husband Paul, Donna Vargo and husband Tony, James Simpson, Jr and wife Deborah, Janet Barcus, Patty Simpson and Jonny Simpson. One sister survives Joyce Hatch and 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren also survive Jim.
The celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Crestview with Rev’s Fran Picker and Alan Kilgore officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 9:00am. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
