Russell Allen Garner Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 25 in the presence of his loving wife and daughters.
He was born in Tiltonsville, Ohio and moved to Crestview in 1998 with his wife Rosalie, the love of his life, whom he was married to for 62 years.
Russell, the oldest son of 16 children, entered the Air Force in 1954. He was a jet engine mechanic and rose quickly to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a Veteran of the Viet Nam war and loved his country. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by the postal service.
Russ was a gentle and kind man whose love for his family was an example to all who knew him. A wonderful husband and father, Russ is survived by his wife Rosalie, his daughters Anna Garner and Jamie Ford (husband Bill), grandson Ryan McDaniel and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
The celebration of Russ’ life will be a private mass for immediate family only on Monday, October 29.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or Emerald Coast Hospice.
