Shelby “Bits” Rogers, III
Shelby Rogers, known as Bits to family and friends, age 62 of Crestview passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born in Gulfport, MS on June 29, 1955, to Shelby, Jr. and Helen Rogers. Shelby graduated from Crestview High School in 1973. He loved riding his motorcycle and going to bike rallies. Shelby also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved his family and family gatherings. He worked for Bogan Plumbing Supply for 23 ½ years, and most recently Southern Pipe and Supply. Shelby was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter Amber Gillis and husband Andy, his longtime companion and friend Jeanne Hammac. 3 brothers: Kim Rogers and wife Paula, Danny Rogers, and Stephen Rogers. Also surviving are his 2 grandchildren Gracie and Drew Gillis. Nephew Adam Rogers and great nephews Reed and Grant Rogers also survive. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for the care they have given Shelby over the last 6 months.
The Celebration of Shelby’s life will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Chapel on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. A time of visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
