Thomas Arnold “Buddy” Seagle left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, January 8th, 2019. Born March 17, 1924 and growing up in rural Alabama during the Great Depression, Tom joined the US Army in 1943 and served overseas during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam earning several awards, including the Bronze Star. He retired from active duty as a First Sergeant in 1971 and continued to serve, starting the ROTC program at Baker High School where he taught for 15 years. Retiring again, Tom and his war bride wife of 74 years, Dot, focused on serving their community. Tom served on the City Zoning Board and as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church where he and Dot worshiped for over 45 years. Tom and Dot Seagle knew what it meant to serve and leave a legacy of love and caring that will impact their family and community for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy White Seagle and son Van (Rita). Tom is survived by his children David (O’Teria), Keith (Teresa), Kathy Barrow, Todd, daughter-in-law Rita (Van) and 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Crestview’s First Baptist Church Saturday, January 12th with a viewing at 12:30 and service at 1:30 followed by internment with full military honors a Live Oak Cemetery.
