Tom Garrett, age 78 of Baker went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 30, 2018. He was born in Crestview on October 11, 1939, to Leonard and Buna Garrett. Tom has been a lifelong resident in the area and graduated from Baker High School. He retired from government contracting with Vitro as a Logistics Technician. Tom was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many many years. He loved to farm and work with his animals, but most of all he loved his family. His Grandchildren were the “apple of his eye”. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son Gregory Garrett, and a brother Gene Garrett. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Carlotta Higdon Garrett, children: Emily Chaitha and her husband Thana and son Philip Garrett and his wife Laura; grandchildren: Sophia and Gregory Chaitha, Eli and Paul Garrett, and Elizabeth Chaitha. Siblings: Ronald Garrett and wife Sandra, Lynn Garrett and wife Joyce, Glyn Garrett and wife Ann, and Kathryn Ziglar and husband Billy. The celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private with family only. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Tom’s memory to help assist his Autistic grandson Paul with his care and therapy.
